HONG KONG: Cyberview Sdn Bhd is seeking interested investors or developers to set up operations in Cyberjaya.

Cyberview is the landowner mandated to spearhead the development of Cyberjaya, dubbed "Malaysia's Silicon Valley", an ICT and innovation-centric township integral to Malaysia's Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC Malaysia).

Business, corporate communications and planning senior manager Md Nazri Tumin said: "As the ICT industry is a very global industry, we are looking for fresh potentials who are interested to set up their operations in Cyberjaya.

"We were recently appointed as the Cybercity manager by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, and one of the tasks is to market Cyberjaya, irrespective of which developer will benefit from what we are doing," he told Bernama in an interview on the sidelines of MIPIM Asia 2011 here.

MIPIM Asia, a prominent three-day real estate event in the Asia-Pacific, is being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and ends today.

Cyberview is among the Malaysian participants at the Malaysian Pavilion, which is initiated by Malaysia Property Inc, a Malaysian government initiative that acts as a bridge between institutions and the corporate and private sectors.

Md Nazri said Cyberjaya is not just an ICT city.

"Actually, we have so many other components and one interesting thing is that we are getting more private developers coming and to partake in the development of Cyberjaya," he said, citing developers like Mah Sing, OSK and SP Setia.

Md Nazri said Cyberview's presence at MIPIM Asia is to promote and sell entire packages to investors, not just to sell commercial or residential components.

"There are four pillars that we are promoting and they are Lead, Study, Work and Play. "So that includes even promoting the universities in Cyberjaya," he said, citing the three universities and two colleges currently there.

Md Nazri said the cyber city has made tremendous progress since its inception 14 years ago, with RM1.2 billion in land sales last year, three times more than a year before.

The city has close to 1.1 million sq m of office space, he said, adding: "This year, we have another 5,000 units of houses, double the number launched last year, and we expect an additional 35,000 permanent residents in the next two or three years.

"We look forward to more participation from private developers in Cyberjaya, and we are also working closely with the Multimedia Development Corp in looking for new potential investors," he said.

The city now hosts over 500 commercial entitities, including some 300 MSC-status companies and over 25 multinationals such as IBM, HSBC, Shell and Dell, he added.
